Theatre

EMILY: Does anyone ever realize life while they live it...every, every minute?

STAGE MANAGER: No. Saints and poets maybe...they do some.
— Thornton Wilder, "Our Town"

That line from Our Town is why I do theatre. Thornton Wilder understood, and I think I do too, sometimes. I keep coming back because I’ve tasted it, that thing. That moment of truth onstage — one that transcends an actor’s exhaustion, the stresses of the world, and even the human necessity of breath. I’ve tasted it as an actor, as a director, and as a guide for others. It’s what I always seek, it’s what I crave. I know I’m not alone in my search…in fact, to embark upon that search with others of like-mind and spirit is my favorite thing to do in this whole world.
