Video Editing
Freelance Video editing
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth ten times that per frame (you do the math). From interviews to feature-length narratives, the power of video is unprecedented. My modus operandi when it comes to post-production is that a good story will tell itself, and only needs a minimum bit of guidance to get into the shape it wants to be. Sometimes, that's very quick cuts and graphics up the wazoo. Other times, it's allowing a shot to breathe for a while and coloring it up a bit. No more, no less. To me, every edit is a puzzle to put together with no context (I typically work remotely, without meeting my client in person), and each puzzle is a challenge to be surmounted.
And now, the age-old question:
What do I bring to the table?
What sets me apart from another, perhaps more experienced editor? Well, I would tell you that I bring a different perspective to an edit. Sure, I have a technical eye and am well-versed in Premiere. But I'm also an actor and a director. This means that I have a totally different view on pace and storytelling; I know that a good story ebbs and flows, and I know how to bring that to the edit bay. It's the storyteller's perspective that separates me from the herd, and gives me a unique that I love bringing to any edit.
And now, the technicalities.
my rates
short narrative: $30/minute of final
feature narrative: $20/Minute of final
CORPORATE: $20/hour
I use an application called "Toggl" to track my hourly work, and I will bill you at the end of the project for the remaining price. Halfway through, I will send you a Google Drive link as a status report and for any changes of direction you may want, and I will package the last of the project in whatever way you need.
Please keep this in mind:
1) I go to Salisbury University on the EAstern shore, so unless you live within 10 miles from there, all work will need to be done remotely.
That means that if you need me to travel to a meeting or anything like that, it will be added to the final bill. I have not found that working remotely has impaired mine or my client's ability to cooperate.
2) Whenever I am working on a project, I am on the clock.
That includes meeting with clients, talking on the phone with clients, FaceTiming clients, etc. I include two, thirty-minute phone calls (or your preferred method of communication) in the contract negotiation.
3) Full payment is due within 24 hours of receiving the final product.
That's all there is to it. As a client, I want to protect you as much as I can. However, I must also protect myself. When you sign the contract, that is that. Any issues must be addressed before the delivery of the final product (I'm human, I understand that life happens sometimes. We will communicate until any issues are resolved.)
